Got a question about chiropractic care or how it could help you? Here are some of the most common questions people have before they visit their chiropractor for the first time. If you have a different question, please contact us and we will get back to you with the answer.
Chiropractic is a health care profession that draws on the inherent recuperative power of the body to heal itself without the use of drugs or surgery. It focuses on the spine and other joints of the body, and their connection to the nervous system.
Chiropractors perform techniques, known as adjustments, which are gently applied to correct subluxations (areas out of alignment that are causing interference to the normal nerve impulses). The goal is to remove this interference, restore joint function and support the nervous system, thereby helping to alleviate pain, improve function and mobility, increase vitality and support the body’s natural ability to heal itself wherever possible.
Chiropractic care is tailored to suit the individual's age, condition and spinal problem. Other forms of treatment, such as stretching, exercise, nutritional, dietary and lifestyle advice may be provided as well.
The word “chiropractic” means “to be done by hand.”
People from all age groups can benefit from Chiropractic care. From babies and small children, the elderly, pregnant women to amateur or Olympic athletes. It is safe for the whole family. Corrective techniques are tailored to suit the individual's age, condition and spinal problem.
To find out if chiropractic care may help you, we suggest you give us a call and make an appointment for a consultation and chiropractic evaluation so we can determine if you may benefit. We will also answer any questions you may have at that time. If you are not a candidate for chiropractic care, or if you require treatment beyond the scope of chiropractic, rest assured you will be referred to the appropriate practitioner.
Remember though – if you have a spine and nervous system - chances are you can benefit from chiropractic care!
No. You do not need a referral to visit a chiropractor.
However, a referral from your doctor IS required if you wish to make an insurance claim with TAC, Workcover or DVA. Also, if you wish to use Medicare CDM/EPC funding, eligibility requirements will need to be discussed with your medical doctor.
Please speak with one of our friendly staff who will explain the procedure to you.
Yes, as long as you have chiropractic included in your ‘Extras’ cover.
The portion paid can be claimed in our office at the time of your visit through HICAPS, meaning you only need to pay the gap on the day. Rebates vary depending on the health fund and the type of policy you have, so check with your fund for details.
In Australia, chiropractors are not able to bulk-bill.
Yes, of course. We are very happy to see entire families for chiropractic care.
Children are most welcome in our practice.
Our aim is to move away from “crisis therapy” and focus on the prevention of illness and debility through education and regular chiropractic care for all members of the family. We believe that prevention is better than cure, and is less costly and far more comfortable for all concerned.
To encourage all members of the family to attend, we offer a discounted rate when the whole family attends on the same day. Our front desk assistants will go through the requirements with you, and answer any questions you may have.
